Default Delete update installer?

I have Edius 8. I updated my version to 8.1 and then to 8.2. After updating it to 8.2 I noticed that when playing a simple clip (no color correction no added effects to clip) the player on the timeline would stop at any given time, freeze and then go about playing. At first I thought it may be saving the file, but it continued, so I opened up a different project...same thing happend. I then changed the buffer and the problem was still there. I did notice that on my desktop I have the 8.11 installer still. Could this be the problem? Do I need to delete the old installer? Thanks in advance.

there is no need to delete the previous installer file, it does nothing

did you empty the hidden Temp folder prior to updating to 8.2?

if not, uninstall EDIUS and choose deactivate later

empty Temp

download and install Full installer of 8.2

reboot and empty Temp

empty Temp daily

Thank you Anton. Do you think this should solve the problem? I just wanted to check before I do it. What usually goes into the temp folder? I checked my temp folder at work which we use Edius on and it does not have any items in it. I have never dumped it either. Once I clicked the user folder it was found in the default folder but the folder was faded not as bold as the other folders. Thank you again in advance.

Cool

Make a shortcut on your desktop with the following path;

%temp%

There is more than 1 temp folder in Windows.......

You can also drag this shortcut on your Windows Explorer icon in the taskbar, it will be there forever when you Right click on it.

in your case, I bet the Temp folder has 1000s of items by now if never emptied

if you don't want a shortcut on desktop, you can also click start and type %Temp% and the folder will open

delete all its contents daily, one or two or three files may refuse to delete, just skip these, they probably belong to the Win fax driver and antivirus program, skype etc

How to make a Temp folder shortcut

Or, if you are emptying it every day you could just make a batch file to automatically empty it at Windows start-up, that way no need to remember to do it or to have an extra icon on the desktop

This link gives the basics on how to make one,
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/crea...s-temp-folder/
remember to change the file type from .txt to .bat otherwise it won't work.
Also the location of where to put the file may be different depending on your version of Windows. In Win 10 I found it goes in
"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp"

So I typed %Temp% and this is what showed up (screen shot) attached. Do I need to delete all in this folder? There are some things not even related to Edius. I checked the Edius Temp folder at the top of the page and it is empty.

Cool

Yes, all, what ever is in use by your system will be locked and can't be deleted.
Just select all by pressing CTRL + A and hit DEL.
If there are files that can't be deleted select SKIP, that's all you have to to.....

the temp folder is used by all programs of the PC, so yes, I delete all daily

I have seen PCs that had 30GB of Temp files, all thanks to Microsoft for not automatically deleting temp garbage and hiding the folder

Thank you to you all. I did delete the files that could be deleted, and now Edius is running without pausing every few moments. I appreciate your help.
