Did you install the BM drivers? After re-booting did you look in Device managerto see if it is listed?
When you opened Edius 7 or 8 did you select the BM as your preview device under hardware?

Are there any instructions anywhere on how to create the preset?
I searched and found Anton's for PAL device.

If you are using a device that is compatible with Edius, and installed the drivers, it should show up in the system settings as shown in the attached screen grab.

I should mention though that 3rd party devices only work in Edius 7 and later. Since you were using a Spark card, I have to ask what version of Edius you are running?

If it shows up as an output device, great. Creating device presets is for capture purposes, and the process is the same for PAL or NTSC, you just need to pick the correct standards when creating. I should note also, that RS422 control does not work with 3rd party cards if you are doing any 9pin deck control.

you can't make a device preset for a preview device

you can only make one for capture devices

yes, for BM cards you should use 7.52 or 8.2

I do have a HDSpark Card in stock if you want one, half price :)
