Default Trouble making white background in Title tool

I am unable to make a simple white background in the Title tool. It only shows up as either black or gray, even though I selected white as the background. If I select background/white and the plain rectangle style and do nothing else, it is black. If I drag bounding boxes across the background, it turns a dark gray, even though white is the fill color. This occurs regardless of which track I put it on. What step am I missing?

Don’t use the triangle. There is more than way to do this but try this one.

To the right you should see “Title object Properties Bar”. If not showing tick and enable the option in VIEW, at the top left. This will give you different Background options.

Regards
Ken

I think the easiest way to get a coloured background is to create a matte on a track and lay the title in the track above. I do most of my titles this way usually with a black matte then lay titles and graphics over the top. I can then gradually bring down the black matte to reveal the video underneath and at the same time fade out the titles all using the rubber bands on the tracks.

Thank you. That solution occurred to me after I posted my question and that is what I did. I meant to mention that the background does show up as white in the Titler itself. It's just that it turns black or gray when you actually place it in a sequence, which I find very odd. This seems to be a bug that Edius hasn't addressed.

The titler is an overlay so will be over whatever you put it over. Video, matte another title. If you put it over nothing it will be black not a bug its the way it works. The background in the titler is just so you can see what you are doing. I normally use video as the background so that I can see where the title will be over the video or when I make complex titles over graphics like at the start of a play I have the graphic, then the title overlay then the playwright etc.

It is always transparent when placed over video on the timeline. That is why if you want a particular coloured background use the matte then you fade out the matte or the title independently. Put that matte on the timeline and create your title over it as the video background.

I don' think there is bug.
Create a rectangle to cover the frame . Set the fill color to white and then check that the transparency is at 0 (zero).

The default is 50%..
Most likely that is the issue. :)
