I have not compared anything to h265 so I can't say how good or bad it is, but I imagine it will be difficult to edit compared to XAVC S

but the idea of h265 is only to have smaller file size and same quality as h264

The best TV and UHD Quality that probbably all 4K HDR TV's since 2017 take is h265 QFHD 50p or 60p HDR10 10bit 4:2:0. So you don't have to go below this quality in your whole workflow.

It starts with your GH5 shooting. For best Quality you have chooose vlogl 10bit 4:2:2 All Intra. Then you apply all effects and colorgrading in Edius 9.20 and Export that in best quality = uncompressed. But this file will be much too large. So I choose XAVC Intra class 480 or 300 for the master export.

After that you can encode to h265 10bit with HDR or SDR.

Like me Ulisse likes the smooth motion of 50/60P to get that with UHD 10bit one needs to record to an external recorder over HDMI. Not something Ulisse wants to take through the jungle !!! If he only uses the camera for UHD 50/60P he is going to record Long GOP 8 bit 4:2:0. Yes, technically Vlog will give him the best but not sure he even has that on his GH5 ( it is a paid upgrade on the GH5 ) it also means grading afterwards and personally ( owning both the GH5 and GH5S) " Like709" is a nice profile to use for easy management and editing when it is definitely going to be viewed on a TV. This profile has knee controls just like a camcorder etc. You also see what you are going to get too. HLG is also an option but yet again at UHD50/60P needs an external recorder.

I agree with you. It's inconvenient on a hike and expensive to buy a vlogl upgarde, external recorder, camera-rig for 10bit 50p recording.
