Default turnkey system question

Hello all you amazing Edius techies! I need your professional help.

If one were to go about purchasing a desktop system (turnkey - give it over, let me use it) for Edius use, who would YOU go to (assuming you just didn't want to bother building it yourself.. LOL)?
AND assuming that said company would NOT sell you another copy of Edius 7, but would put YOUR copy on the system, as it has already been purchased (jump 8 eventually)?
AND would be reasonable?
AND... what would your parameters be for the system (cpu ram etc) thinking FUTURE 4K use (as that seems to be the future... again eventually)?

Thanks guys... the Alienware is tired. :(
S.

You need to be more specific as to what you want the system to be able to do and your budget.
Also, do you want a custom case or would you be happy with a modified HP.
This is a stock plain Jane box. Nothing against Jane.

The only reason I mention this is, you get a 3 year warranty and they come to your house to repair it.

I'm running E7 now, will be running E8 eventually
I do not want WIN 10, I have 7 and will use this til the bugs are more out of 10 (plus I hate the interface)
I need more horsepower -cpu/ram- to handle the bigger files of 4K eventually -If I'm buying new, I have to think future use (can't do this every year LOL)
I want good graphics cards
I want to run Adobe CC programs, MS Office, etc as needed for work (all I own)

I could care less how it looks as it will sit on a desk (or under).
I DESPISE touch pads - mouse only (even with the Alienware I have now)
I WOULD like an Edius keyboard.... bucket list eventually LOL

And what system are you mentioning there? 3 yr warranty?

IDEALLY, I'd like someone to make sure the dang thing is running Edius right!!! Can I load in software? OF COURSE. But I'd like to be sure all the stuff is running right, all the programs are cooperating... KWIM?

You still didn't give a budget. You will need to go to Win 10 because new Intel chips going forward will not be supporting Win 8 and below.
You say you want good graphics cards, do you mean you want to SLI two cards. Edius will only see one.
Do you want Quick Sync?

If you want the cream of the crop, be prepared to spend in the $4,000 range.
Not including the Integrators fee. The top of the line Broadwell E chip is $1,500.

BHPhotoVideo.com has a few Edius turnkey systems for sale, but perhaps not exactly what you are looking for.

They probably have a subcontractor that assembles their turnkey systems, unless they have dedicated staff doing that.

You might contact them, and perhaps get a referral.

If you were in the UK: a no brainer. David and the team at DVC.

Thanks all. Computer needed love - tons of defrags, disc cleans, etc - and lots of tries backing up finally got it working ok, but the Cdrive HD is going. We are going to replace the HD for now, but I am actively looking at new systems.

And yes, the ones I want are about 4K. sigh. champaign tastes, beer budget LOL so - we must save for awhile. SO... for now, I am going to wait to get some more $$ to get a good system.

Not happy about the WIN 10 thing tho. :(

Default George Dame

Sherri,
George Dame (EditHD) built me a system a few years ago.
I don't know if he still does turnkey systems.
Give him a call at 877-433-4838 or george@editHD.com

I was very pleased with the computer he built for me. See the System 1 in my signature.

Sherri,
since you said you were going to wait and save for the system, can you wait until Q3 or Q4 of 2017?

Both the X99 and Z170/Z200 platforms will make drastic changes. Nvidia graphics cards will be making changes as well.

What you have to do first is decide which platform you want. 'X' or 'Z.'
Each has a purpose and both the Skylake E (X platform)chip and Cannon lake (Z platform)chip promise new architecture as well as a 10nm size change.

Both will be capable of doing UHD.

Nvidia will be releasing the Pascal based cards late this year. These are going to have 12-16 gigs of memory onboard, compared to the current norm of 3-6gigs.

So, just do some reading on each platform to familiarize yourself. Deciding what you want prior to contacting an integrator will save you time and keep the frustration level low on the integrator's side.
Trust me :)

Don't, forget to deactivate your Edius license before swapping the C drive, and re-activate on the new drive. That way you won't loose an activation from your limit.
