Default update edius 8.1

Thank you and I'm glad that is several participants, each of us is free to express his personal opinion, and yet are not completely agree that we should wait 3 months after the edius 8 to have available a software to be declared compatible with Windows 10 (I'm not talking about changes that could be incorporated later)
Microsoft has just released the Windows 10 operating system preview in October 2014 precisely to overcome this problem of further delays in the development of the software when it would release the final version.
Thank you all!

Pauls
Edius 8 runs quite well on Windows 10 here and so does Edius 7.5 so I think the update will be more to give you a warm feeling than anything else

While it may run fine on your system, others have reported issues. There are under the hood changes for Win 10 that could prevent certain features to not work properly on newer components.

A public Beta a year ago is still a Beta.

As one with some experience in software development and support, and as we have all seen with previous releases of Windows even beyond the SP1 stage, OS patches occasionally break things in application software.

Also fast-running programs have to get close the iron and may depend on internal specifics of the OS, not just the published public API, which is often S L O W.

Also, there is a difference between "it works" and "officially supported."

I will not be interested in Win10 until they release a major update that lets the user disable automatic updates

I have been doing manual updates in all OS so far, never automatic

I posted a link a couple of weeks ago to UWT4 in the lounge. This program allows you to disable Windows Update Service....among other things. I have used this program since XP and it takes care of my systems.

As Jerry suggested, you can easily get around that.

The first major update for Windows 10 isn't that far off.

Personally I'm continuing to use Windows 7 and Edius 7.5 until both the Windows 10 update and Edius 8.1 are out.

I wish they would also release Win7 Sp2

yesterday I installed Win7 Sp1 on a new PC and then did the Windows updates, 1.4GB update files and 7 hours to update (many reboots and several update re-runs are needed) very time consuming for the user

It would be nice, but until then I just make a new installer USB pen every few months and slipstream the updates into it, saves me a lot of time especially as the new Skylakes need newer drivers in the Win 7 installer if I want to install from USB pens
