Default Lets Edit RT+ questions...why does it take so long to encode?

I have the Lets Edit RT+ software and capture card that I bought a few years ago. I've recently purchased a MiniDV camcorder, and I can upload the movies to my PC through the card without any issues. I edit the film, and then when I try to encode it to DVD2 using the included software it takes about 30 hours for a 1 hour MiniDV tape. Am I doing something wrong here? I can encode using Nero in about 25 minutes. I have an AMD 3.2Ghz Dual Core system with a decent video card and 2mb of ram, so my system is more than up to the task. Should I edit the tape using the Let's Edit software, send the edited version back to MiniDV, and then encode it using either DVD Movie Factory, or Nero? I don't remember any of my 8mm movies taking this long to burn to DVD. Any help is appreciated.
