there is no more capture from version 9.31 onwards, I have not received info on why capture vanished without any announcement in the readme
This is why I said "as the story goes". You have posted this info before, but there is no documentation regarding the issue, and I have not personally attempted a capture, as I stated.

It really is too bad though, as the Matrox hardware is quite good, even though they are no longer making the MX02 series. I used to be a Matrox dealer, and was always kind of partial to their hardware.

At one of the dealer meetings I got a tour of the manufacturing facilities in Montreal, and was told at the time that they kept all the video I/O manufacturing in Montreal to keep better quality control, instead of farming it out to a plant in China, Sinapore, Korea, etc. This impressed me with their concern for the quality. They did farm the graphics cards out though.

I go one step further, the MXO2 produces the cleanest analog capture of all cards available

right now, it takes 60 seconds before you can capture
1. uninstall 9.40 and do not deactivate (15 sec)
2. install 9.30 (45 sec) and then capture
3. when done, uninstall 9.30 and do not deactivate
4. install 9.40

If I do have have to do a capture, I do have an Edius 8 license, so I will just install 8.53 in conjunction with 9.40, since 8.53 can easily live on the same system as 9.40. For those that only have an Edius 9 license though, your routine will work fine.

I do agree with your assessment of the quality of the matrox captures though.

it won't work, once 9.4 is installed, 8.53 will also fail to capture, I tried it all

Well, I'm staying with 7.5 with my MXO2. Great Combo. I'm pushing 3/4 Umatic, BetaSP, D2, VHS, HI8, etc. restoration to digital capture with a BM Teranex box SD to HD conversion on the fly. My MXO2 is working flawless. Just received a box of 20 tapes today.

I've been testing 4K and found Resolve plays back better. So, I'll just keep those two on my computers, I don't need anything else.

Could you make a dual boot startup in Windows to change quickly?

You can dual boot with windows, but it isn't as easy as it used to be years ago. Win 7 uses a different boot loader than Win XP did, do depending on how you want to configure, you may need edit the BCD file. There are a few utilities out that make editing this file easier, but if you want two configurations that are completely isolated from each other, swappable boot drive caddies might be a better option.

No chance of something getting written on or deleted from the wrong drive then.
