Boris also has some nice drop out fixing filters for some old footage I use as well.

None of the time effects - optical flow slow motion etc - will work in EDIUS as plug-ins. It is just one limitation of how the EDIUS plug-in interface works.

Another option worth considering is buying HitFilm Pro 2017. That will give you the stand-alone program you can do a lot more complicated effects work in, and also get the EDIUS plug-ins.
Actually, I lost my job last month, and I'm planning to do "filmic" product reviews meanwhile, in order to help me to find another one :)

What I mean, is that I don't have a big budget, but still need to get some very usefull video tools. Like a titler and few essential filters not available in Edius.

If I have to, I'll get the Adobe monthly subscription, but for now, I'm looking for something more close to Edius than a external compositong tool as After Effects.

Neither Hitfilm nor BCC is 'optimized for RT' within Edius. Sapphire and Looks are both RT in 8bit and depending on your machine, in 10bit. It will also depend on the filter used.
But, if you are doing detailed keyframing I would still suggest AE or Hitfilm Pro 2017 for that type of work.

Either way, you are going to be rendering. What titler are you considering?

I tried Titler Pro 5, and found it very limited for it's price.
After reading a lot on this forum, Vistitle seems to be a nobrain choice, but it's a little bit expensive for my need. And almost no true update in two years...
Boris Title is not really workable in Edius, so not an option.

All the apps I tried leads me to After Effects, which seems a better deal fo everything it brings on the table.

If you want to see what Vistitle can do, download the trial and watch a couple of my tutorials found here:

With limited budget you could also try Blackmagic Fusion. It is a stand alone compositing app and completely free. There is a bit of a learning curve.

On a budget I would say get hitfilm Pro. If you try the compositing app it does not water mark stuff (from memory) and you can see what the filters are like there too. It is a subset of the Hitfilm filters which make up ignite.

I wonder where that information came from?
RED is not in any beta cycle at the moment. Boris have been concentrating on their new aquisitions and merging/integrating them with with BCC Filters.

RED is still a very useful and powerful application containing the most you will ever need for titling and compositing in one single application - no extra add-ons necessary.
BCC with the OFX bridge was dropped by Boris probably because there were too many incompatibility problems.

Boris have definitely not given up EDIUS as a host.
RED is resting not dead.

Douglas

I could not see a version of Fusion 16 that was free but if you scroll down the list of programs on the Resolve/Fusion download page you will find Fusion 9.02 which is the previous version: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/sup...359582/Windows
