I will look at that Edius one you mentioned..

I found these 100% free light leaks - and I emailed them to confirm if client use is fine and they said it is
https://www.rocketstock.com/free-aft...k-light-leaks/

but does edius have blend modes or something similar to what other editors have? or is transparency the only option?
Yes, Edius has blend modes. See the attached screenshot of the effects palette

I also like how a lot of wedding videographers at the moment are color grading a lot, and I feel Edius lacks in this department..
Do not worry about the light leaks the people at the wedding I am sure loved it.

Have you tried the new Primary Color Corrector for grading? Plus, you can use Film Convert Pro and Hitfilm to color grade with LUT's as a starting point.
In most cases round tripping to Resolve isn't needed now.

Wow there are so many different products to purchase.
So Hitfilm helps you actually create light leaks, rather than buying other peoples .mov files is that correct?
and Film Convert Pro is a different program or similar?

Film Convert Pro allows you to change the video to look like a specific film stock:

DJ tutorial is still there. Login to DJ, click on the training link at the top of the page. On the left side click on Legacy Training. Look for Using Matte Magic with EDIUS. Go to about the 9 minute mark and watch from there.

One word of caution - please try out the filters on YOUR system first - check out that the filters runs fine on your EDIUS timeline - before you buy. Some of the filters make extensive usage of the GPU - so if the GPU you have don't have the required h/w resources - you might experience hiccups ...

Some filters allow you to select the GPU - so if you are using the INTEL GPU for Quicksync - you might be able to configure the filters to use the more powerful nVidia GPU for their effects - while EDIUS is still using the Intel GPU.

Cheers.
