Default DVD export shows bad quality video

Hi Guys.

Is there anyway to export (write) to DVD in a 1280X720 format?
720X480 is sooooo bad (NTSC) and a huge file on top of it.

I was always wondering how in the world Hollywood studios make their DVD and stays so sharp :)

thanks for any suggestions

how are you downscaling from 1280 to 720? there are tricks to get better quality, such as Virtual Dub (free) (Edius can't do it, sorry)
http://www.videoproductions.com.au/h...dub-hd-sd.html (Pal tutorial) in your case, do all the same but use 720x480 instead of 720x576

1280 is not allowed on DVD

Thanks Anton !

I'll look into it and see that would be better.
I was under the impression that these TV sets nowdays marked as 720P and 1080P and so on. So that don't mean anything when we have a 1440X1080 video or more rez?
Still have to reduce our rez to 700 something to see it on TV?

It's really a shame that Edius can't author DVD .... with quality output.
One more question: What program you can recommend to do authoring and make high rez DVD ? There are so many out there.
thanks again Anton

cheers

OK, thanks... I'll try that one as well :)

Edit:
I just read 'most' of the info on their site and I noticed the Pro2 able to 'edit' footage, so I don't have to use Edius or other editors?
I have no idea what they're talking about most of the time..... but I can actually import AVI, WMV files and make a DVD without transcoding?
Am going to read more of about this later and try to get a handle on this because I need to create a decent DVD.

Thanks again for the advice :)
