Question What's the Difference ?

I did download directly from my user account on the GV support website and also again when the pop-up appeared when I started Edius 7.0

EDIUS_7.01_0344_DL_Setup = 456,165 KB
EDIUS_7.01_0344_Updater = 294,255 KB

As the file sizes deffer vastly, do I assume correctly that the Setup file can be installed on a clean system and the Updater needs 7.0 installed.

Please advise if assumption is in-correct :)

looks like someone placed the wrong file on the download server, that file is the full installer minus manuals and DVD templates

use the updater only

I've tested both and it makes no difference which one you use, although I have found that on my newly built systems both installers try to reboot after installing .net 4.5

I have used the setup (larger file) and so far no Gremlins yet :)

While I already had .net 4.5 installed it rebooted soon after that.

Cool

As I installed Edius Pro 7 as a upgrade download (on a clean freshly installed Win7 Pro today ) I noticed that it ask's for Quicktime 7.4.4 to be downloaded manually before the installation could proceed.

Not a problem, just an observation ..................

p.s. Both the 7.0 & 7.01 version installed flawless with smooth serial activation, much better than 6.x

I am pretty sure that Quicktime is included in the full installer but not in the updates to keep the size of them down. Since you cannot install EDIUS without Quicktime you should have it on the system when installing an update, so why include it again.

As far as whether GV will fix known issues like VBR - yes they will, and I would assume that would be in the next update patch. We don't know when that will be of course but I am confident they will fix something which is fairly major like VBR export soon.

What bug are you referring to? I can do motion menus as long as the project settings are right.

An update on this - the smaller file is meant for both the downloads page and the in-app updater function. It should be fixed now for anyone still running 7.00.

You're not missing out on anything, in case anyone is wondering.
