Default Adding iPhone 6Plus footage into Edius

Hello

I have installed MoviePro app on my iPhone which allows manual frame rate settings so that I can have 25 or 50p shooting. It also allows manual exposure colour and focus should you need them.

A few clips have come in with only one audio channel the majority with two. I don't see why that should be.

I set the phone to 25p in order to save memory as it was only a Recce although I could well have recorded at 50p I see afterwards, I wasn't sure how much space I would need.

When adding the 25p material to a 50p project in Edius a pan looks bad double vertical ghosting as in the Time Effect settings the frame option is set as default to frame blending not nearest neighbour, the latter giving a reasonable result. I had a long pan shot and added stabilisation with rolling shutter as the camera seems to have that issue, and there were some "kicks" in playback in the result, which could only be resolved with optical flow and a render which was perfect. Maybe some clips I will just have to live with that.

My question is therefore, is there a way of changing the field option settings to all the clips in the bin rather than have to apply it on the timeline?

Regards

Mike

Mike,
I had iPhone 7 footage sent to me with 1 channel, which I thought was strange.
I ended up doing dual mono with an audio image field applied to give me fake stereo.

At least the footage was progressive and I was able to get something out of it. However, just like you, the only way to really smooth out the footage was to use optical flow.

As far as changing the field order all at once, watch the video.

Hi Jerry mine are already progressive and I don't need to change it. I need to change the field option globally so that Edius treats 25p as nearest neighbour not frame blending as that is mostly successful, only the occasional clip needing optical flow.

On Frame Blending if you step through frame by frame Edius has created a still frame followed by a half way house between the first still frame and the next (a superimposed horizontally shifted frame) which gives a blurry effect which is hard to watch. So Watching it through you get clear then blurred every other frame. Not nice.

The Nearest Neighbour option inserts an extra frame to fill the space, 25p>50p so we get Same Frame, Same Frame, New Frame in a group of 3, that is much easier to watch. I was looking for an option to interpolate all 25p footage in a 50p project that way.

The best I can do is to get Optical flow to play at 1/2 res on HD, it will play through a 15 second clip if I preload the buffer.

Interesting that 29.97 footage in a 50p project frame blending is smoothest of the two, optical flow is best, but optical flow does not like a dissolve in the footage i.e. part edited elsewhere.
