any version after EDIUS 6.06 has nightmares with anti virus programs

I suggest you uninstall the AV program and try again

if all good, then install Nod32 v5 and exclude the following folders from being scanned

C:\Program Files (x86)\Grass Valley
C:\Users\Login Account Name\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley
C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley
V:\The folder that holds all EDIUS projects on your video drive

If you happen to run a Norton or Symantec security program, set up a SONAR exclusion for GV License Manager, that is all that was needed in my case. Nothing else had to be excluded and no features had to be disabled.

but by excluding the other items, they do not need to undergo scanning every time you move the mouse :)

Even without excluding them they only get scanned once and the status of the files is persisted until the files change, at least with my software.
