How was this file created. If it is a straight camera recorder file can you please post the model info?

Also have you tried opening it in Quicktime player in Windows and did that work?

Is the clue MVI files which are SNIP; a DVD-based means of packing audio, video and interactive visual content (for example lyrics) onto one disk.

It seems to be yet another format from Canon. Every camcorder manufacturer seems to assume their recording system is better than anyone else's, but the penalty often is it becomes quite incompatible with any standard decoders.

Usually they supply a player for the computer, which should install a codec.

Free: DVD Flick is supposed to convert them.

SNIP; Movie clips taken with IXUS 1000 HS, PowerShot Elph 500 HS, PowerShot SX 200IS, PowerShot SD 780IS and many other Canon cameras are normally saved as MVI_xxxx files. These MVI files are actually Motion-JPEG/H.264 encoded video with .AVI or .MOV as file extension. The SD MVI videos shooting at 640x480 end up as .avi files and HD MVI files at 1280x720 or full HD 1920x1080 .mov files. While, the MVI format does not playback or edit very well. To make Canon MVI videos playable on your PC with media player, editable for video editing programs, you need to change MVI first. That's where Brorsoft MVI Video Converter comes in.

I hope that is of some help two converters there.

Mike
