Default Motherboard

We are rebuilding one of our older computers and looking for the perfect motherboard to accompany one of 2 processors which we are considering....either the Intel i9-7980XE or the i9-7940. Does anyone have a recommendation? Any other thoughts we should consider? Also curious if there is a GPU which someone might recommend.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I have two PC for Edius. One with i9 7960x and one with i7 8700K. Both with Asus MB. GPU is not so important for Edius. I have Nvidia Quadro P4000 and GTX 1050TI.

Both systems works fine. For the most situations 8700k is enough. Depends on your type of work. If I can help you please ask me and I will try my best.

Which motherboard do you use? What can you advise for the 8700K for the speed of editing? I am considering Asus Z370-E.

FWIW, I'm using an ASRock Z370 Extreme4 with the i7 8700K. Works well for me. I suspect performance differences among the same chipset MBs are slight. Equally important is whether or not the MB provides the connection and slots you need.
