Default Scrolling timeline with mixed video dimensions causing crashes

Hello all - happy new year!
We are running Edius Workgroup Pro 8.22.623
Have a project with a couple hundred client supplied cell phone clips of various sizes. They want us to assemble and output to DVD. Most of the clips are 1280 by 720, so that is the project setting. But mixed in are clips of various dimensions: 176 x 144, 320 x 240, 480 x 848, 568 x 320, etc. When we try to scroll across the timeline, we are getting frequent lock ups - output monitor and preview monitor above the clip bin suddenly shows a green tint or solid green and the system crashes. I assume the system is having trouble quickly resizing the smaller clips to the project setting of 1280 by 720. Any suggestions to allow scrolling in this situation? Thanks.

some cellphones produce incorrect spec video so EDIUS can't display anything but green

in such a case, I use TMW5 to convert the clips, TMW5 can play and convert anything

If the clips normally play back fine but turn green when scrubbing then that could also be an issue with the graphics driver. We've seen this with GH4 UHD clips when Edius is using quick sync for playback and it has to new an Intel driver installed.

Anton's suggestion is probably best though as the phone clips are probably variable frame rate so converting them to a fixed frame rate will probably help a lot.

Updating to 8.31 might also help

good thinking, disabling quicksync for playback in system settings could help
