Default Softening overexposed white hair

Is there a function in Color Correction that allows for a small, specified area to soften over exposures? Particularly in regard to white hair illuminated by direct sunlight, keeping the remainder of the frame untouched.

You can use a mask, track and then use the PCC inside the mask to adjust with a curve.

Thanks for the thought. I tried the Mask, but probably wasn't doing it correctly.
I'll give it another try.

One important thing to know is that if you use the mask for color correcting it s good to set the edge to soft so you have a blend and you don't notice the masked area.
Start with number like 250 and lower or increase the number while you monitor the blend. Just a suggestion. :)

Is the shot LOG?

The mask will apply the effect to a specific on screen area. If you want to apply the effect to a range of colours or brightness you can use the chrominance filter and apply an effect just to the bright areas, or just the red or blue, etc.

You can do most of it in the PCC. :) For the correction the OP wants.

Effecting the blacks, greys or highs is controlled by the curve and points.
For easy ranges I would use the 3 way color corrector.

Use my preset. Find the area that you want. Tweak the effect with turning off YUV in filters.
