Default Edius License Manager question

Just out of curiosity I looked up my Edius 8 WG License on the GV LM site.

I was surprised to see there were 2 entries, one in January and one in June this year. I have and only had Edius installed on one PC. I don't remember doing anything to my PC in June to cause another entry.

The only thing that might have happened around that date was that I cloned my C drive and tested that it worked....would that have triggered another activation without my knowledge?

I assume it would be good practise to hand back one activation, but which one?

Does it matter which one of the activations I hand back?

I dont think so but not 100%
It will be the same serial. Have you checked your clone to see if its still registered. I tend to deactivate before cloning/creating an image

If one deactivates a licence, how long does it take for the online manager to register & respond to a deactivation and free up an activation for a new pc?

30 days or several months?

Thanks Steve,

Reason for my query was that I deactivated and instance of E8 early this morning UK time and checked the licence register about 15 minutes later. Tthe change was not showing. Just rechecked (about 4hrs) and it has now been returned.

I'll put it down to a head wind.

Can anyone confirm if I clone my C drive, I should de-activate Edius first?

I am still trying to find out why I have 2 activations on my GV account, which might or might not have occurred when cloning my HD.

yes, deactivate before making the clone because you will not be able to deactivate any cloned drive, you may get failure notice and if not, it will tell you that you deactivated but the license is not returned online, because the machine fingerprint does not match with the one where it was originally activated. so by doing this you lose a license count

I been there, done that, learned the hard way :)

Thanks Anton. So the way forward now with 2 activations is to de-activate both, wipe the cloned drive, clone again, then re-activate my original C drive?
