Default cell phone video sideways

Ive got someones proposal to his fiance he shot with his cell, its sideways.
i can turn it the right way in layouter but how do i make them look right. theyre very wide, look ridiculous.
im trying to in layouter but am just not getting it

in layouter, just untick aspect, then you can reduce width until it looks right

99% of cellphone operators hold the phone the wrong way when making video

the public needs to be educated with a worldwide TV campaign

I also had this problem (with EDIUS 7 at least): When taking a movie with my Android phone, the phone's video player displayed the video just right, but in EDIUS the video was top-down. I coud rotate it by 180 in Layouter, of course, but wouldn't it be more clever to read the orientation information (that must be in the video file somewhere for obvious reasons)

I also have some videos made with the mobile on "portrait mode", so the video's are turned 90 or 270...
