Default Edius 7.53 on Win 10

Hi Folks, if you can help.

I run Edius 9.30 on my main computer, however I have an I5 Samsung Chronus, that I'd like to run my old Edius 7.53.
My problem is, that it loads to the splash page, and then crashes.

I know Edius 7 is NOT supported for Win 10, but it's a good program, and was wondering if there is a way.

Thank you as always in anticipation.

Regards and Happy Christmas to all, been a great year looking at our forum.

You could try right-clicking on the shortcut used to launch the program, go to the Compatibility tab, and specify Windows 7 mode. It may work, but there is no guarantee and I have no way of testing it myself -- it's just a suggestion.

Hi THoff,

Good call, didn't think of that, however have tried, and alas it doesn't work, but thank you anyway.
regards
Pete

PS Admin: just realised this should be in the lounge, please feel free to move, apologies.

Try right click and run as admin, or you may need you create a new admin enabled windows user account. The default one that is created for the main user sometimes does not get full rights, even though it is tagged as an admin.

Some people have been able to get Edius 7 to run in Win 10 and some have not. There may also be issues with the particular version of Win 10 and Edius 7.

All I can really say is beyond that is "Good Luck"

Does it make a crash report when it crashes? It may also be worth trying to install C++ as this can also be a cause of EDIUS crashing on startup and the Windows 10 version may not be the same as the one EDIUS 7 wants. Hopefully the installer is in the EDIUS 7 install files

Finally when you installed it did you run the installer as administrator? If you didn't it is possible that something that should have been installed was not installer.

I don't run EDIUS 7 on Windows 10 myself so these are all just suggestions that may or may not work.

Just to add to David's suggestion, you also need to make sure there is no virus scanner running when you install. This includes the built in Windows defender that Windows has activated by default.

Thank you all, you've been most helpful.

Have tried everything, just not working, which is a shame as I like Edius 7.5, however as I mentioned I do have Edius 9.30, so I will put that on.

It got to a stage where I just didn't want to be beaten, and I will keep trying.
Regards and thank you again.

I have installed 7.53 in nine Win 10 computers and all work fine

something not right with your installation, especially directx must be ticked during installation which is often unticked by default
