Default Best hardware for Edius?

Hello,
so I am fairly ignorant when it comes to Edius, but I am helping a friend of mine build a machine as he is complaining that a 1h:30min took him over 7H to render on his laptop which has an i7, i am not sure which gen but prob 6th or 7th.
Anyways, I have the following questions that i'd like to get feedback based on your experiences as I lack any.
He is using Edius 8 but will upgrade to 9 if necessary.
1- Does Core count matter or Core speed? (Xeons/Ryzen VS an i7/i9)
2- Does Edius support cuda and helps to cut down render times (Exports) like premiere does or no?
3- Is Intel the better option cause of QuickSync?

I am fairly certain he did not have QuickSync on while he was exporting because when I asked him to try and render the same file again with QuickSync he couldnt find it and sent me this screenshot.

Edit: Yes, mp4 H.264

is he exporting to mp4? If so, export speed to mp4 is way faster in EDIUS9

using Quicksync allows faster than realtime mp4 exports

I would suggest to upgrade to EDIUS9 and test export speed (or render as you call it)
