Default Canon XF-HECV H265 - Edius slow

I've just upgraded to Workgroup 9 and Its seems my PC can't handle the Canon 705 XF-HECV H265 format so well.

Making a simply cut or quickly scrubbing around the timeline is sluggish. Everything however with normal Canon XF305 recorded is fine.

I think a simple upgrade may be in order. I'm running Windows 10 64 bit, a 1060 card, 16 gig of ram with a an i7-3770k @ 3.50GHz 3.90 GHz.

Old processor the logical issue?

Thanks

Martin

h.265 is very compressed... and you need a fairly up to date pc to play the clips well.

have you got QS and have you enabled hardware acceleration for H265?

For using QS for the H265-codec you need an Intel CPU from the 6th generation upwards. The i7-3770k is not able to de/encode H265.

I guess you forgot this thread.

Look at Post #3.

This is a particularly hard codec to play in Edius.

So many systems don't even have HEVC playback codecs, MicroSoft wants a dollar to download the the codec unless that's changed when users encounter an HEVC file.

I like the format but there seems to be a squabble ongoing amongst developers. It certainly would be my first choice for 1st gen video.

Default 4K audio missing frames

I have discovered a new problem when using Canon 4k HEVC files.

If I render out a series of clips there are 15 frames of audio missing at the head of each new clip when exporting any clip be it MPEG4, MPEG2 or WMV.

No issues when in 1080. Here is a sample https://drive.google.com/file/d/17ot...ew?usp=sharing

I'm using Edius 9. What could this be?

FYI there is a firmware update for 705 10 days ago. It doesn't address your problem from reading the notes.
