Default Edius 6 to Blu-ray with 6 channel broadcast wav

Hi all.

Can anyone confirm if this is an issue.

I have an E6 project that is just a single master HQ video file, and a mixed master audio track that is a 6 channel broadcast wav at 24/48. The timeline is set to do a 6 channel surround output. When I import the wav E6 will bring it into the bin and show its properties, as if all is ok, but as soon as I try to move the wav to timeline E6 hangs and shuts itself down. Does anyone from GV know if E6 has a file size limit on wavs, this one is just short of 7gig.

Thanks in advance.

A Wav file with broadcast properties, a Broadcast wave is not an ordinary wave file, it has a different header etc.
Just because the audio is 24/48 it's not a broadcast wave by definition.

Is Edius compatible with Broadcast wave ?

My audio app is broadcast wave compatible but when I output to other software it's not always smooth sailing.

Yes EDIUS supports bwf.
Only thing we need to ask if we support the updated EBU tech 3306.

Because before that the limit was 4 gig IIRC.

Tony.

I never said by definition that the sample frequency and bit depth made it a bwav, I said it was a bwav because that is how we exported the master from Nuendo.

Pat.

If you could look into it that would be great, I have a deadline for our masters and have to re-mux the master 6 channel audio back into the master HQ video file. I will PM you later about another project tuturial I have done, it's a project that shows the end user how to check for audio phase problems with imported audio into Edius 5 and 6. Rusty has been kind enough to give me a hand on it before I put it live so it will be a few days to take on board his input.

Steve.

Thanks, I have a feeling it may be a size issue. My only problem is the mix was not done on our system so I don't have the mix and automation data to hand. Otherwise I could try to run off 6 monos, and at this point I can't run the risk of trying to de-mux the pollywav incase a problem occurs that we don't see straight away. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Dave.

Steve & Pat.

I tried it in 5, and it does the same thing but without Edius switching itself off.

Cheers.

I got a DCP 6ch master contained in an audio only MXF (24bit/48kHz).
Had no problems with file size (5.5 GB) when working in EDIUS.
Will test which standard is included in MXF.
