Default ADVC300 and iMovie '08 problem

Using a MacMini running Mac OS X 10.5.8

And trying to capture with iMovie '08 (7.1.4)

S-Video In

Firewire 6-pin output direct to the mac mini firewire port (6-pin).

Picture Controller doesn't see the device, nor does iMovie '08.

Not sure of the problem?

Make sure that the unit is plugged in and switched on via the small, square black button on the rear of the ADVC-300. Next, check to make sure that your Mac sees the ADVC-300 by going the Apple Menu>about this Mac>more information and choose the item on the list for FireWire. If the ADVC-300 is powered and connected properly, you should see it in the list of connected devices on the system info page. And if your Mac can see the ADVC-300, then Picture Controller and iMovie will too.
