Default Save Preset in Print to File is grayed-out.

First full day learning 7.4 coming from 5.5. Pretty basic question. I'm trying to create new export presets in "My Presets" in Print to File. Been years since I tried. I googled how to and must be missing something. I just created a preset that is now in "Recently Used" but the "Save Preset" icon is grayed-out. I would like to create multiple export presets to keep in My Presets. Ideas?

Click the Codec, configure the settings as you need them and press the save preset button and name your Preset.

Don't use the recent preset list. :)

Steve thanks for the reply.

Here's what I'm doing…

F11 (print to to file) >
Quicktime > Exporter > Quicktime Exporter Plugin (double click) >
Save as type: I change the drop down menu to MPEG-4 (*.mp4) >
Click Settings >I configure MPEG-4 Export Settings (the click OK) >
That brings back to "File name:" >
At this point I have no other option but to name the file (and location) and then it renders out based on my settings. When done i'm back to those settings being in "recent presets." I haven't figured out what the Advanced drop down menu is for at the bottom of the Print to File box but much of that is grayed-out as well. Maybe I'm doing something in the wrong order or have an incorrect setting?

Hi David,
When you see the preset in Recently Used, highlight it, go to the bottom left of the Print to File box and click the Save icon. Choose and note the save location.
Then look back in the Print to File box and click the Import Preset icon (next to the Save icon and the Red X (Delete). Navigate to that saved location and select your preset. Now it will show up in My Presets, and be there from that point on.

Hi Pat,

It's been a long time. Hope you're doing well. The jump for 5.5 is going pretty good except for a bunch of little things. I just tried exactly what you suggested but the Save icon is grayed-out. I tried what Steve suggested but I must be missing something in his suggestion.

That makes a difference . If you use the quicktime exporter you have to export the preset and import it
Any special reason you are using the Quicktime Exporter and not the EDIUS exporter for mp4?

Steve, I was just about to attempt what you suggested (export and then important back in). I guess the reason I use the quicktime exporter is because I'm used to it. I'm open for new ideas since moving to 7.4 today so is there any benefits to using the Edius exporter for mp4?

Sorry, but I left out the step of exporting the preset using the icon in that same area. Then follow the steps.
