Default Mpeg2 capture

Hi
I have been using two storm cards perfectly for the last few years. I recently bought a storm card with the mpeg2 daughter board attachment with the intention of capturing directly to mpg2. However, when I installed the storm card with the daughter board attached I was unable to capture to mpg2. I keep getting the message that no capture device is available even though I have a Sony DSR 11 deck connected with FireWire. It,s the same whether I use Canopus Mpeg capture software or Media Cruise.
I,m sure there must be something simple that I,m doing wrong but cannot understand what it is!
Please can someone help.

What you are talking about here is a hardware encoder that has not been on sale for a long time so it will be hard for people to remember how it integrate.
My first question is what OS are you running. Could it be that you are using an unsuported OS?

I have one of those which stopped working after i changed to Win7 from either Win XP or Vista possibly XP but i cant remember which one
I think it was called a daughter board for DVStorm you could uninstall it as originall boards had it as an optional extra

Hi

Many thanks for your reply. I am using Windows XP Pro. The storm card works fine with Edius 4.61 but for some reason the Mpeg2 daughter board is not being recognised. I bought the Storm card with the Mpeg daughter board attached with the intention of capturing VHS tapes directly to Mpeg2 for output to DVD. I can capture to an avi file and then convert to Mpeg2 using Procoder Express but obviously this takes much longer.
Any more ideas??!!

Many thanks for all your replies. I can't believe it but after reinstalling Media Cruise for the fourth time it suddenly started working!
I can now capture to Mpeg2 either with a FireWire connection or using analogue inputs on the storm board. I tried it with Canopus Mpeg capture but that still does not see any capture device. However, that doesn't matter as Media Cruise seems to work fine.
Once again, many thanks.

If you haven't, register your DVStorm with Storm Encoder on your local GV support site. You will then be able to download the most recent drivers (from 2002 and 2003) for your card(s).
