Default Titler Pro 4 vs. Vistitle: Why the Performance Gap?

NewBlueFX Titler Pro 4 is unusable on my system: the play-head grinds nearly to a halt whenever it encounters a title on the timeline. This is with caching enabled, and titles re-rendered whenever TP4 exits back to the timeline.

Out of curiosity, I installed the Vistitle demo and was shocked at the difference in performance. Edius and Vistitle BOTH work great with my 1080/60p projects.

Which leaves me wodering: why is TP4 so agonizingly slow? Short of upgrading my entire system (for the sake of a titler!), is there any other tack I might take to improve the performance?

For that matter, is ANYONE getting real-time performance with Titler Pro 4, and what are your specs? Thanks.

I'll be posting a TP 4 Tutorial tomorrow that shows how to setup the titler and a couple of new features.
Hopefully, the tutorial can help you.

That would be great. I'd like to think I could get usable performance out of TP4 without having to upgrade anything. We'll see.

Keep in mind that Edius keys it's horsepower from the CPU speed and not the total number of cores. 20 cores at 2.7GHz vs 8 cores at 4.7Ghz will always loose in the speed arena. The total cores comes into play with encoding and multi-threading.

Your Graphics card is older and has fewer CUDA cores(960)and memory. My GTX 780 has 2304 CUDA cores and 3GB of memory. The newer 980ti has 2816 CUDA cores and 6GB of memory. I think you see where I'm going with that. Anything driven by CUDA will perform better with more cores and graphics memory.

Hopefully, with the right settings you will get a bit better playback.

I have a I7, 16Gb RAM, GTX770 2gb and NewBlueFX Titler Pro 4 is unusable on my system to ( ... and caching just infuriates. And at the same time VisTitle work ideally.

Did you watch this Titler Pro 4 Tutorial?

This tutorial goes over settings and gives suggestions to help with play back issues.

Reviewed. Nothing new. Settings is too simple - why watch the lessons?
In any case I already bought VisTitler and happy because VisTitler with same hardware is faster and more convenient. And TP4 caching is ...
TP4 has a lot of advantages, but for my purposes I chose Vistitle. I thought that he was a better quality/speed/price ratio.
