Default Surround Sound Encoder Plug-ins

While there has been many advances in PC video editing software there has been very little done to improve audio when burning to a Blu-ray disc. Even less expensive programs like Cyperlink’s Power Director uses a first generation DTS encoder which is far superior to the old outdated AC3 highly compressed surround sound encoder. Audio encoders should be treated as plug-ins when developing A/V authoring software to improve surround sound soundtracks. Some reasonably priced first and second generation surround sound audio encoders are available. Grass Valley should also update Eduis to recognize ASIO drivers for multichannel USB audio interfaces to monitor surround sound while editing and authoring.
