Default Storm 3G Elite / Storm Mobile: Audio problem.

Hi everybody!

I work to integrate non-linear editing equipment since the first DVRaptor RT from Canopus (now GV).
Every so often some compatibility conflicts appear.
Now is the turn of Storm 3G Elite and Storm Mobile. Both using the PCIe boards.

The problem is with the audio. The analog audio on the ENLs suddenly start sound with noise frying.

I found the solution, but itīs like a patch, not a real solution.

The problem is with the PSU. I replace the PSU with another one and problem solved.

But... why this? I need to mention that i try several PSU brands. And all in some point starts to do this issue.

The last one was a Seasonic 1000W and it surprise me... itīs a really good PSU. Another brands with this analog sound issue are Thermaltake (650W / 800W), Sentey and XFX.

I want to mention too that the GV boards works great after replacing the PSU.
This is the only symptom: the noisy sounds. All the PC works great.

Does anybody else has this issue?
How do you resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

did you apply the floppy type power connecter to the storm mobile board? This power connection is needed to supply enough DC to the breakout box

I am not familiar with the Elite setup

Don't be surprised. Seasonic make ( IMO) the BEST PSU's of any vendor and actually supply many OEM's with high quality PSU's for their own branding.

Are you running the Elite on a Xeon v3 chip?

Thanks to all for your answers.

1) The power connector to the PCIe board is used when the bay is outside of the computer case. The power connector that i use is for the bay, and it is connected.

2) No, i donīt use Xeon proccessors. All the PCs runs with a Core i7 4790 (socket 1150).

3) It doesnīt care about Ediusīs version. It fails with Edius 6 or 7 as well.

The PSU power values looks fine with a tester. Itīs so weird!

Please post your complete system specifications. Was the noise coming from the old PSU?
Not all PSU's are created equal. I try to use the Platinum rated PSU's now. They have recently come down in coast. As Anton said, Seasonic is the manufacturer for most PSU's. That said, I have used Corsairs for a few years. The 750 bronze 80's are still dependable but discontinued.
What was the power rating of your previous PSU and what were the other PSU's power ratings?
