I found Lightroom 3.0 - 3.4 video slideshow export functionality being too weak with very limited adjustments on the output. Slideshow title often can not be placed accurately. In the preview it looks OK but on the output it sometimes is placed in a different location. Finally the output video is overcompressed and can not be used for any serious further work.

Therefore I think you will be better off exporting separate images from Lightroom:
- to Edius and in simplest case arraninging them manually on timeline;
- to Imaginate 2.0 which can be purchased only second-hand;
- to Photodex ProShow Producer;
- to Vegas Pro with Ultimate S Pro or Ultimate S Lite plugin.

However I should say that Lightroom is appropriate tool for the job as far as still photo preparation goes.

According to their websites, Imaginate 2.0 is still sold by BHPhotoVideo and VideoGuys, both in New York. Both are good vendors, with whom I've done business. US$ 189 to 199.

It may be available on Ebay, as well.

If I may opine, if you are using Edius 5.51, you should absolutely get Imaginate. (It does not plug-in to 6.x, but can still be used as a standalone.)

In 5.51 (and earlier) Imaginate plugs-in directly, and its project files are as clips in your bin window. They initially appear as 5 second clips on your timeline, but using your cursor, you can stretch them to any length. This is incredibly useful to match accompanying sound tracks.

Wonderful program.

Even ProShow Producer has not the same output quality as Imaginate2 from Edius 5.51 timeline.
While the effects in PS P are nice, imaginate is still my prefered still image animation software.
Lightroom is indeed good at preperation.
