Default Is it really possible to use quicksync without a second monitor attached?

I read this article about how to setup Intel® Quick Sync Video on desktop PC without need to connect a monitor to Intel HD graphics card.

Does this seem real? Will Edius be able to work like this?

Yes it is as that is how I have mine setup. I have the HDMI from the motherboard to one input on my Asus monitor and the displayport from the 1080Ti to the displayport on the same monitor. Windows sees both " monitors " and I have just one selected as the master. On the monitor I can select either of course with all the icons on the displayport version. If selected the HDMI just has a windows "picture ". Motherboard bios is set to have motherboard gpu always active.

Make sure you configure Windows to mirror the screen on both monitors, instead of extending the desktop to the second monitor. Otherwise you'll be able to move the mouse cursor off-screen, or have dialogs open on the monitor you can't see.

It doesn't work on all motherboard brands. It's hit or miss.

It has always worked on my Gigabyte boards ( last 3 boards, CPU's 2600, 3770 and now 4790 ) so I cannot answer for any others.

For years now I have connected my second monitor to the integrated
HDMI\DVI ports and was bummed that I couldn't have both monitors on the NVIDIA card... you are all saying that I didn't have to do this? I'm surprised it wasn't ever mentioned on the forum. I HAVE discussed and read about the Intel thing here and no one ever mentioned this option.

Today that I have an LG 38 curved monitor, I had just connected the LG to the DP on NVIDIA and have another cable connect the LG to the integrated via HDMI - so I guess I can disconnect this cable now.

Ron, this is what I'm doing now with my LG 38 but it's not what that site says. The site says that you don't even need the HDMI cable. Just force widows to add a ghost monitor to the MB port and it should work.

Ron has a monitor plugged into the on-board Intel graphics but it is the same monitor that his nVidia is plugged into.

The Ghost monitor idea used to work for me but has not worked for ages. I thought some Windows updates stopped it. I am using Windows 10 on all my machines.

I am on Win 10 too. The cable must be connected though as the motherboard needs to know there is a monitor connected. Disconnect the cable and it will stop working. It works for EDIUS but Vegas does not see the QS acceleration unless I make that input the master in Windows. Resolve still doesn't like it as it can still see the 1080Ti !!!
