Default Correcting audio order in MP4 export workaround

Let us assume for a moment that there is only one track per 5.1 channel on the timeline and it is a 5.1 layout that we want to export.

On the timeline we have (Using the Wave extensive test channel ID file)

1A=Front Left
2A=Front Right
3A=Centre
4A=LFE
5A=Rear Left
6A=Rear Right

In sequence settings make the following channel map patch up

1A=2 out
2A=3 out
3A=1 out
4A=6 out
5A=4 out
6A=5 out

None are therefore correctly coded as pre-allocated and this is a workaround.

When you export the audio will appear in the correct order and you leave your audio monitor and project settings in the logical order.

I hope this is useful to someone.

Mike

This has been corrected in Edius 9.2.
You can use the TMPGE Movie AVC plugin and get correct export in earlier versions.

Ok I have thrown my profile out and re-started.

Sorry I have to disagree Jerry this is my experience in Edius 9.20.3340 it is still wrong for me on MP4.

An audio only export file AC3 is correct no changes needed but the MP4 is still wrong.

The MP4 file produced has the audio tracks in a different order to the original audio file and the process should be transparent as it is with the AC3.

With the settings above the file plays in the correct sound order on the desktop, i.e. just as well as the original audio test file plays.

I agree TMPGEnc does work correctly with the standard output order but the TMPGEnc plugin won't produce an HLG file only BT2020 unless I don't get how to produce HLG with it as Edius says it is just a 2020 file.

I haven't managed to create a file in Handbrake that takes XAVC out from edius and makes an mp4 with the 6 XAVC tracks into an AC3 5.1 track. It seems to make 6 off individual tracks.

Handbrake doesn't understand an HQX MXF file.

Adobe Media Encoder gets the track order wrong from the XAVC file and makes a PQ file

TMPGEnc does the same with the rear track order it allocates one to LFE

The audio file export works perfectly in other apps. AFAIK, this wasn't the case in earlier versions.

In earlier versions re-importing the file into Edius showed a wrong order. Now it doesn't.

I stand corrected, you are correct that it is incorrect in other applications. I tested in Premiere Pro 2018

As far as HLG or PQ output, how many users are actually doing this with 5.1 and with the various items in the HDR process that do not work properly.

For 98%(if not more) of Edius users the easiest way is to still use the TMPGE plugin.

I did test your work around and it does match up in Premiere Pro 2018. However, if you go to re-import it back into Edius it does not match up. Therefore, this setting should be used as the final step.
