Default Blu-ray burners

Is Edius 5 compatible with all blu-ray burners, or is their a compatibility list somewhere?

Thanks,

Scott. EDIUS doesn't support Blu-ray at all. So the question is a bit moot.

That doesn't mean that you can't edit with Edius and create a Blu-Ray disk -- it's just that it doesn't burn Blu-Ray disks without a third-party program. Edius 5 comes with Corel MovieFactory, which can create Blu-Ray disks.

Ok, so I'm confused, and what else is new? The specs say Edius 5 will author Blu-ray, so I thought that was the same thing. Why author, if you cannot burn?

Anyway...it comes with Corel Movie Factory, are there compatibility issue with it? Does that mean that one would only use Corel to burn the disc, if it has been authored in Edius 5?

Thank you,

EDIUS 5's bundled DVD Moviefactory will indeed support Blu-ray authoring.

As it is, Corel don't seem to have any specific info on their site (the version bundled with EDIUS is akin to v6 standalone, with regards to Blu-ray).

Thanks Pat!

That's exactly the same one I was looking at, from the same vendor. I will be very interested to learn of your experience with it.

I've had that burner for a few months, works great. I don't use the Lightscribe feature and haven't tried reading a HD DVD, but for burning CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray disks, it's great. Very quiet and pretty fast. I wish it had a larger internal buffer given the high throughput requirements when burning Blu-Ray disks, but that's a small gripe.

Agreed. This is the drive I have in my home system. No problems thus far, and it works with the DVD Movie Factory software we bundle with EDIUS.
