The i7 CPU'S are much quicker because they don't have the bottle neckwith the FSB, Theyuse another 2 slots for ram and the CPU talks directly with it, as for MB'S their is only a few out now, Gigabyte, Asus, Intel, and I think SuperMicro is now doing one, the big news is that these look like replacing the old Xeon CPU'S in servers, their is going to be a few new boards for servers and work stations released soon that will support dual i7 CPU'S, This is the future of the mighty CPU.

Mark it is true though, I spoke to a mate of mine a few weeks ago who's family use to make the things before they moved to Australia, he and his father said that the Xeon was going to be replaced as it is now old technolige, I have not known these people to be wrong in the past, they seem to have there finger on the pulse pretty well.

Default Intel names Eduis 5 as a multi-threaded application

I found this link that claims Intel names Eduis 5 as a multithreaded application.

http://apcmag.com/first_look_intel_c...set.htm?page=8

Now that the core i7 has arrive I am considering a new editing workstation combined with an Eduis upgrade from 4.5 to 5.

Raymond, it would be great if you could include info on the test system you used. I too am very interested in export/mpeg2 encode speeds. I currently have an E6600 system which is 2 years old - this encodes DV at real time. It looks like an i7 920 would be at least 2x real time!

I don't get it either... However I found that the fourth column is the sum of the first and the third...
