Question surrender Edius 6.5 installer DVD for FREE 7.0 users

I just received an email from my local Edius distributor that GV has instructed them to ask all users who received a free upgrade from 6.5 to 7.0 to surrender the installer and serial number for them to return it to GV.

Has anyone come across a request like this and why so long after using edius pro 7 is this happening.

I was under the impression that when I bought 6.5 I could use it to my hearts contend, just like version 4 & 5 which I still own.

Do I need to uninstall this 6.5 from my pc and really give it back ????

Tell them to go sing for it! You are under no obligation to return anything.

Best
Dave.

Why is this vague in my memory, something similar last time around?
Regardless, why would they want them back. The 6.5 can only be activated on 2 systems, the version 7 upgrade can only be activated over top of them... unless the free upgrades were full license numbers? If that is the case, it is their mistake and surely I would tell them to sing as well.

the free upgrades were full versions with a full serial, it did not ask for any 6.5 serial during installation

We do not need the customer to surrender anything for the free upgrade. You will need your 6.5 Serial number for the EDIUS 7 free upgrade installation.
