I have a similar system to you. With the i7 processor on the market I would advise you to wait. Asus do an i7 motherboard with PCI X slots and the new cpu will be so much better. Any upgrade now will be worthless in 6 months as the new cpu comes in to play IMO

Socket 775 is still going to be supported up until 2011, The new socket i7 is very dear to upgrade to as you need a new MB, CPU, and tripple channel ram, to take advantage of it, all the test are saying it is a great CPU or multithreaded games, this is where the benefit of it comes into play, don't know how much dif you will notice with NLE software though. To tell you the truth can't really see the benefit of such a dear upgrade, unless your a heavy gamer..
