Cool

The expansion Board has a couple of cables to inter connect to the NX main board.

Are they in place ?

There are NO drivers for the expansion board.
It just need power and connection to the mainboard.

well, PC2 does not have PCI slots at all

how are you able to get a PCI card inside a PCIe slot? or did they ever make an NX with a PCIe expansion card? They used to make the main board PCIe and expansion board PCI

Even though he mentions PCI slots in his first post I suspect he has the model where both cards are actually PCI-e

and if both cards are PCIe, the following slots are the only ones you can use for these cards

the x1 slot will no doubt be blocked by the graphics card (bad mobo design by ASUS), so you must use the remaining two

I couldn't remember if they did or not as it's been so long since I used one, but looking round I found pictures and references to a PIC-e version.

It's also possible that the expansion card doesn't work on newer chipsets. I've never tried one on an X99 chipset.

Having said that you are running the hardwaresetuptool after each time you move the card to make sure it re-installs the driver properly?

I hate to disturb the force, as things are working fine, but I want to jump to Edius 8. Windows 10 is the unknown.

Thanks.

Bite the bullet and put a BlackMagic card in - Intensity Pro job done! Keep the NX on a legacy system

OK, so I am trying to use an Edius NX Express card - both the main board (NHX-E2) and the expansion card (Component Out Board) are PCIe.

Anton is right, I am not using the PCIe x1 slot - that is blocked by the video card. In fact I disabled the PCIe 16 #2 slot because I want all my USB 3.0 and 3.1 fully functional and they would be killed by bandwidth sharing.

I put the mainboard to PCIe 16 #3 and the Expansion card to #4. In the device manager the expansion card appears as an unknown device, even if I switch the slots around and put the main board to #4 and the component out board to #3.

The main board works fine with Edius in both slots, I have not tried the component out connections. I am just bothered by the "unknown device" connection.

BTW I was thinking about the Blackmagic cards but I wanted to give a shot of the Edius NX Express, since I had it in my drawers for a while and wanted save a little money, and I was put off by the component capture brightness problem of the BM Intensity Pro 4K. Does this problem also affect the Decklink Studio 4K card?

step1: test component out

maybe the unknown device is something else
