Default HQ 50i/60i > HQ 24p or HQ 25p or HQ 30p

1) Is there a way to perform STANDARDS CONVERSION -- NOT simple deinterlace -- of 1920x1080i60 HQ to 1920x1080p24 HQ?

2) Is there a way to perform MOTION ADAPTIVE deinterlace of 1920x1080i50 HQ to 1920x1080p25 HQ?

3) Is there a way to perform MOTION ADAPTIVE deinterlace of 1920x1080i60 HQ to 1920x1080p30 HQ?

The goal is to convert 1080i to 1080p so it can be used in an HQ 1080p timeline.

If it can't be done WITHIN EDIUS, any suggestion on a utility that can do this.

I think the highest compressed resolution you'll get out of Edius is 1920 x 1080 23.98p. Just drop your material into that timeline and let it conform.

You mean 1080p25 and 1080p30 projects are not supported? What about for the Sony EX1 that shoots 1920x1080p25 and 1920x1080p30?

I could not find any way to alter a PRESET -- which seems odd. Usually one can pick a Preset, modify it ANY WAY one wants, and Save it under a new name.

Since the docs do not include the word CONFORM, I used Render and it seemed to do the job. (Yes -- you are right "conform" is the correct term.)

EDIUS isn't aimed to be a full-featured transcoder. For what you want to do, take a look at ProCoder.

Odd answer -- the other person claims EDIUS does transcode 60i to 24p.

Yes, it can transcode, but its primary design function is for editing.

The type of flexibility in function you're looking for is found in applications designed for transcoding.

Just like you could use a screwdriver instead of a drill to make a hole in the wall, it's much harder to precisely control the hole size with the screwdriver than it is with a drill.
