Default Problem using NHX-E1 with Edius 6.03 Demo - Are there new drivers for windows 7?

Hi,

I have been using Edius 4 with no problems, recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from XP pro, and am considering updating updating to Edius 6 also, so downloaded the trial today to try it out, thing is that I cannot get it to see my cam, Capture is all grayed out, (I have watched the training and am setting it up first with the correct input device) In fact, it seems that NHX-E1 I have is not being recognised by windows 7 also, (although windows does see the cam plugged into the HX E1, there are no drivers loaded in the device manager. Is there an update for the drivers for the NHX-E1 card for Edius 6 required? If so, is it possible to access these drivers to use the trial to capture? I have tried lading the drivers for the card which came with the Edius 4 disk I have, the set up runs okay, but looks as though the card is not recognised.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I do not think that Edius 4 is compatible with Win 7.
If I remember correctly all the info is contained in the downloads section of your user account. There are specific procedures for Win 7 installation/upgrades.

Edius version 5.50 and up are officially endorsed by GV to be win7 certified.

Edius 6.03 has the drivers for NX & SP boards, not sure if the demo includes the board drivers.

1. you need to create a capture device preset in system settings
(here is how it works with SP, should be similar with NX)
http://www.videoproductions.com.au/html/rs-422.html (or download ready made capture device presets, after registering the purchased version, you will have access to these downloads)

2. you need to set the preview device to the NX

Default Drivers?

Thanks Guys,

The problem seems to be that the drivers I have for the NHX-E1 card do not work with windows 7, even though the set up runs. Under the Input/HW format Settings, the NHX-E1 is not recognised, although windows sees the cam okay, seems I need a new driver to try out Edius 6.0, Is there any way of accessing the drivers which apparently came bundled with 6.03 for the NHX-E1 to be able to try out the demo version of Edius?

I am just getting back into thinking about work after a lengthy period of illness, and am unsure which way to go, I have a Mac now and am considering final cut, but loved Edius before - I would like to be able to demo it with my NHX-E1 hardware before taking the plunge, especially as the period of grace to upgrade from version 4 has passed, it's a large amount to pay for me at the moment without giving it a run first.

Edius runs fine on a Mac with boot camp, even the NX card has no reported issues in a Mac.
There are a few users here who are using it and can testify to that.
If the i7 (who i just bought) wasn't so cheap, I'd be using a Mac pro also with boot camp.
You better re-think the FCPX you're thinking about, while it might be a competend NLE after some updates, it might become a costly exercise to get the complete package as the NLE in its current form is bare sceleton and thirdparty add one are more costly then FCPX it self.
Once you have fully loaded the NLE it's very costly and not even close to Edius capabilities, some food for tought here :)

the Hardware drivers come with EDIUS6, and one installer covers all possible hardware

but I have a feeling that the trial version may not cover any hardware, just like it does not allow XDCAM files

I agree with Anton, that I suspect that the NX drivers do not come with the demo. Rest assured that NX does work with Win 7 and EDIUS 6.03 and above.

Default Drivers

Thanks for all your answers.

If the drivers do not come bundled with the demo, is there any way I can get my hands on them so that I can give the deom a good try out with my hardware? At the moment I have Edius 6.03 demo installed, but have no way of getting footage in to edit, also cannot give the software a good try without having the hardware enabled, any adice, anyone know if the drivers are available anywhere as a download?

Thanks again.
