Default A fine way to skin this cat.

The FireCoder Blu has a real problem with slot compatibility as outlined numerous times. So for those who found despair as I did , if you can't have the FCB in the PC of your choice (your main edit rig) all may not be lost for you.

By using another PC with an appropriate slot, in my case my kids PC- I found I could encode over the network with complete ease to/from the shared drive (my RAID array on the workstation). The source files and target files never even touch the kids PC... furthermore the software works over remote desktop connection so no need to leave your desk. If the other PC is usually being used by another party it is still possible.... by setting it up with the "concurrent users patch" (many use for Windows Media Center admin) it is possible to do your encoding while others are using the PC because FCB does not use much CPU power.

What about that... the only thing you can't use is the EDIUS timeline plugin. (I never do anyway)
