Don't test with colour bars, use real video. I have found I can get really fast encode speed on colour bars which makes me think QS is working when it isn't.

the 1 min export /or render color-bars are a typically to compere over forums
two PC and his correct / or not correct settings

therefore my question... your "do it not, use real video" is in cause
a) it is not a videostream on timeline, and if anyone export the 1 min colorbar to i.e HQ-standard
and give the 1 min HQ file on the timeline, than is it a correct "compare-file" for to test Export over Quicksync => on two different PCs ??

b) it is the simple color-bar thing, without any change or any motion in the 1 min
and therefore is it equal, the "without any change or any motion" is in a HQ-videostream or as "still with audio" on timeline ??
(and for a correct "compare".. you need absolutely "real video" ... like color-bars rotate 10 times 360° in the 1 min ?? )

I hope, you can understood the background from my question ...

all the best ..Hans :)

I did not quite understand it all Hans but it is still better than my German.

I use colour bars to test everything except encoding speed. This is purely because of one afternoon where I spent ages trying to get Quick Sync working on a computer and I kept thinking it was working because encoding times were quite fast, but they were vastly different when I used a piece of normal video.

My assumption was that if the encoder has to work out all the I, B and P frames and differences between then it is a lot harder to do if the footage changes. With colour bars they would all be the same. From then on I always used a piece of video with no effects to test encoding speed.

I normally test with several clips of different codecs. This is closer to a real world experience. My result will be a lot closer to what a normal export might take to encode as opposed to using color bars.

I usually check with GPU-Z, showing GPU Usage Percent, if QuickSync work it will above 5%, i think.

I'm just about to build a new i7 Skylake system, do I still need a specific version of Intel driver, or does Edius 8.1 now work with the latest version.
Is it easy to downgrade versions if I need too?

I've found the one ending in 4300 seems to work best. So far anything after that hasn't worked for me
