Not saying 6.07 is my dream come true but the stability is great.
Maybe time to dig a bit deeper in the system itself, being it soft or hardware.

Sorry to hear that John, can't say the same myself, no problems here.

Looking forward to 6.5

My earlier versions of Edius would crash or take 5 to 10 seconds at a time to do something, but since 6.07 it has been smooth sailing. I've never enjoyed working with Edius so much. Hopefully 6.5 will be as enjoyable.

Dont know if this will help, but I wouldn't hurt to try...

First.. remove the SPARK Card, and try without it....if that does not make any change, try updating or removing the NX card, and if that does not help, then
uninstall the last software you installed, and work backward to when it was working well....If it was working well before, try a system restore to that date, or just before......Had an issue like that some days ago, and I uninstalled the last software I installed, and the issue has gone away....maybe, just maybe, you may have similar condition

Thanks for the many replies. As it is not too far away I shall wait for 6.5 first before trying anything. All the suggestions are very valid but I never had to do anything at all in the 5 series. The coincidence is too great for it to be finger trouble at my end IMHO.

Be sure to check plugins for compatibility when upgrading. Old/incompatible plugins can cause problems.

I will wait probaly for ver 7, but if I will go for it right away, I will see 7.01 and 7,02 and read what users will say. Actually the most interesting readins are outside of this forum- they will not be deleted, moderated etc.

Cool

E6.07 has worked welll for me, but I did not install E6 for production until after the first several patch releases were out, and the various latient internal and 3rd party issues were fully vetted by users and common issues resolved (and 5.51 was doing what I needed to do quite nicely).

As a IT person with some software developemnt experience, it is my opinion that unless there is some compelling need to do otherwise, it is best to give a new major release a bit of time to mature and allow patches to fix the issues not found during pre-release testing.

Anmd for Windows, conventional wisdom says migrate to a new version only after its SP1 is released .

I have found 6.07 very reliable but we are having major problems recently with anti virus programs causing crashes in programs. We routinely use Microsoft security essentials and every since the update to version 4 it has caused problems burning Blu-ray in EDIUS, crashing in Premiere and most recently an audio problem in Avid Media Composer. Customers have also reported AVG stopping them from installing drivers for Matrox devices (ones people use with Premiere Pro). It seems like all the anti-virus software guys have got together and said "lets create problems".
