Default ADVC-G1 delayed until April

I am having a new Edius editing system built, with a top-grade core i7 970 PC, Storm 3G, Edius 6, etc.

I included an ADVC-G1 as I will need to do a lot of analogue capture.

Yesterday I had a huge shock when my system builder told me that GV won't now be releasing the ADVC-G1 until April!

It was originally supposed to be released in December last year which is when I ordered the system. Then it was delayed until January 2011. Now there is a further delay of at least 3 months!

Can anyone from GV comment on this please?

Unfortunately, this is correct. Due to some design and operational issues with the G-series converters that cropped up unexpectedly in Q4 2010, the release date for the ADVC G-series converters was pushed back to April 2011.

I ordered ADVC-G1 as part of a new system with a high performance PC for Edius 6 and Storm 3G which was delivered just 5 weeks ago.

Now "Storm Mobile" has been announced in Japan and it looks like it will have the analog interfaces I have been waiting for on the ADVC-G1.

If it proves to be a suitable alternative, would GV exchange my very recently purchased Storm 3G for a Storm Mobile so that I can cancel my order for an ADVC-G1?

If so, how long to wait? March and October have been mentioned as release dates for Storm Mobile at http://ediusforum.grassvalley.com/fo...ad.php?t=21195

These are questions that need to asked of your local dealer and regional GV office. They cannot be answered here. Good luck.
