That's an old bug but I found early on that using OHCI and not the NX card DV overcame it. Fortunately I have OHCI on the component NX card as well as the Audigy sound card on my legacy systems.
If you do go down that route (unless you're running 4.6) then you will need to make appropriate capture and project presets.

Also be sure that when using a capturing preset, it is often set to capture uncompressed by default. A lot of computers do not have the throughput to do that. If that is the case, set it to something different.

Default capture VHS tapes

I use "Dazzle" it comes with software. I run the cables from my Panasonic AG-7650 recorder with TBC into Dazzle, capture then bring the file into Edius and edit the from there. Dazzle works very well. Connects to computer with USB.
