Default Hair removal from film, (hair in the gate) plug-in or manual method?

I need to remove a nasty big hair in a variety of shots lasting about 5 minutes.
The hair is curved and moves about a fair bit.
Does anyone know if there is a suitable plug-in available? Or an efficient manual method; I can face 2 or 3 hours at this but not several days.

I have used Neat Video noise reduction on old 8mm movies with reasonably good success on film noise. I have not tried to eliminate a large hair as you describe so I can't comment on that, however they claim it can deal with such things in their manual.
They have an Edius plug in and it interfaced fine for me.
Good luck

New to Edius - came from Liquid, before that 16mm film. I've been filmmaking since watching ST TOS first-run live on B&W TV

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll give the demo a try, sounds promising.

I would use PFClean as a starter - if not good, then simple wire removal in AE is excellent, but you need to work on each frame - which I might add, is very quick.

I'd be happy to run your file thru Clean and see what it makes of it - upload a short snippet as mp4... I'll have a look...

oh yeah, check my blog, there's an item about dirt removal.

Paul :-)

Wow! PFClean is serious software.
Yes, I'd like to send you a snippet please. Where should I send it?
Thank you.

Ok, I simply can't upload a file here. It appears the upload must be no larger than 10mb and I'm having major issues exporting a few seconds in MP4 lower than 10mb.
Original file is 2k overscan by the way.

You need to use a sharing service for such a file.

The hair might be like a scratch.

Unfortunately, the hair (or fibre) is an odd shape, kind of looped - not like a scratch.
I've tried the Neat Video demo, which does a good job of reducing grain, but I couldn't do anything about the hair.
