Default No video on imported avi-file

Hi,
I yust wanted to import an uncompressed avi-file a customer got from a company which converts film to video. The bin and the properties show the file as audio.
I run Edius 5.12 on Windows7-64bit. VLC-player plays the file correctly on this machine. I also have EDIUS Neo on a WinXP-box. Does it make sense to import the file into the project there and then move it to EDIUS5 on the Win7-box?

From media-info in vlc-player I get :
Type: Video
Codec: 2vuy
resolution: 720x576
framerate: 25

Is this the wrong codes for EDIUS? Can I add this codec, if necessary?

Any help is welcome :-)

regards
Karl

Google says it's a Blackmagic codec. Try their site.

Yea, I think you should install their codecs on your system if you haven't installed ffdshow on your system yet.

Thank You all. I'am ashamed, I did not think of looking it up in google or wikipedia :-((

I looked around the Blackmagic site, but I did not find a way to download a codec from them. I did find a codec to download at http://www.drastictech.com/download_codec.html and also a lot of codec-packs on http://www.fyxm.net/aja-kona-2vuy-co...oad-55564.html

Can You recommend which to use?

tia

Actually seems like a lot of folks are using 2vuy references, but in theory they should all decode alike.

Ahh sorry, I missed the uncompressed avi reference in the OP.

Hi again,
I have installed EDIUS 8 v 8.31.1333 (latest version) and have again troubles opening uncompressed .avi-files. As mentioned above I installed the AJA-codec I found earlier (and which has worked on Edius up to Version7), but I could not load these files. If I tryI get
"Öffnen der Datei fehlgeschlagen."
which means "could not open file..."

I searched the forum and found that 8.22 added support for 2vuy coded files. But I get the same error - with and without the AJA-codec.

Is there anything to do in Edius8 to "activate" the new codec?

This is really annoying, since it worked on Edius7. Any ideas?
Appreciate your help!
Regards, Karl

Thank you More4K, this is a possibility. You just forgot the parameter "-i" after ffmpeg. It should read

Code:
 ffmpeg -i "source.avi" -pix_fmt yuyv422 -map 0:v -map 0:a -c:v rawvideo -c:a pcm_s24le "output.avi"
The announcements for 8.22 Edius 8.22 just said, that Edius would import 2vuy-files diectly. The installation of the AJA-codec I found a few years ago (which worked on another Win7-machine with Edius 5, 6 and 7) do not help either. So converting sure is a way, but it would be much more convenient to edit these files directly, as was possible in Edius 5, 6 and 7.

Thanks again for the "first aid"!!
Merry CHristmas to all of you, Karl

In the meantime I have installed Quicktime essentials and the AJA-Codec111 a second time, but it does not help. My 2vuy-avi-files can not be imported and edited in Edius 8.31.1333 :-((

Karl
