Default EDIUS 8.2

Hi there

Prompted a little bit by John Hooper’s Motion Tracking thread, we think it's maybe not a bad idea to give forum members a heads-up on what they can expect to see in the next feature release at least, provided that you deal with the information sensibly.

So... EDIUS 8.2 is scheduled for release around NAB 2016, and should include the motion tracker. It will be part of the Mask filter, and not any kind of external OFX plugin. In its first iteration you will not be able to apply tracking to titles, but it is something we can look at further down the line.

We also plan to add RAW and LUT support in 8.2, as the two kind of go together. Current plans are to support Sony and Canon RAW, and maybe Panasonic if we can squeeze it in.

Plus, we will continue to work on the GUI etc., although it's not likely that you will see much improvement for 4K monitor displays in this release.

All the usual caveats apply - this is the current plan, and plans can always go awry - but it should give you a good idea.

Lastly, there will also be a maintenance release (8.11) in the next week or so. This is primarily for compatibility with the new version of GV STRATUS released later this month, but there will be bug-fixes in it too which are not STRATUS-related.

I hope this information is useful.

Steve

Thanks for the information. Dare I ask if we can expect any changes to the GUI in 8.11?

As far as RAW support goes, where would Blackmagic cameras fit into the puzzle? I think they create a DNG file. Would this be compatible?

Also, with RAW support will there be RAW adjustments available like white balance etc... which are in programs like Adobe Lightroom & Resolve?

If not, how would the RAW files be interpreted? 3-way color correction filter?

Thanks

Guys, we are just telling you what is scheduled to come out in the update as far as previously mentioned features. You are wasting your time trying to ask specific questions. We cannot know any of those answers until we actually have it. So let's exercise a little patience.

This is just trying to be a bit more transparent about what is coming. We will try and maintain that throughout the process, but if it starts getting crazy that will stop.
