Default GV Browser - remove folders

Hi All

I wondered if anyone has found a way to remove folders from the GV browser.
When I first loaded it I wasn't sure what I was doing so now I have loads of folders in the application I no longer want but I can't figure out how to remove them?

Are you talking about folders under Catalog? If so, right click on the folder and select Delete.

No it's the 'All Clips' at the very top which still seems to contain clips from folders I have since removed from the 'Catalog' section?

All Clips is a permanent folder and will not uninstall. It sees all of the clips on your machine so unless you remove them totally from your machine, they will still show there. I think it is a bit of a waste to use All clips. The idea of GV Browser is to allow you to organize clips into comprehensive folders depending on your needs.

So are you saying you have a bunch of folders under All Clips?

No folders showing, just lots of clips and I just didn't want them showing in the software at all.

If it's by design it's fine, just trying to figure out how best to use the software at the moment.

Indeed, it's possible to remove all clips from certain folders (like you wish to do).
Unfortunately it needs a little workaround, as there isn't any "out of the box" function for this:
  1. Go to one clip from the directory you like to be removed entirely
  2. Copy the file path from the File Information (right click mouse)
  3. Paste the path into the search field
  4. Remove file name from the search pattern
  5. You now will see all clips from that certain directory
  6. Select one clip and press Str+A to select the rest
  7. Move them to the recycle bin
  8. Go to the recycle bin, select all and choose "remove from library" from the right click menu

Please also see video attachment.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
I also noticed that if you delete a file from the HDD it doesn't automatically get removed from GV Browser?

As a start of an app it is great to have something which can attempt to sort out video files like Lightroom can for Photographs.

The first part of my GV Browser tutorial series covers just the scenario described.

http://www.gaijin-eyes.com/2015/2015GVBrowser.html

I made it as part 1, because I knew that many would jump into the Browser feet first (as I did) and would end up in this situation.

Regards
Douglas

Also look at part 5 of Douglas' tutorial also talks about finding "offline" files and how to get rid of them. You can get to it using the same link above.

Thank's everyone.
I definitely made the mistake of diving in and adding far too much rubbish to the library in the process.
