The way I did my upgrades was to make a clone of the WIN7 PC, take out that original boot SSD and put in the clone, then update the cloned drive to WIN10. On the assumption that if it did not work I would just put the old SSD back in and everything would be as before. I kept those original drives for several months just in case but have now used them as clones of the updated PC's since they all work just fine. Or in fact better with WIN10.
